Talented alumni singers and the McCook High School Varsity Choir will be featured at this year's Heritage Days Show at the historic Fox Theatre in McCook.
The showwhich will be Saturday night, Sept. 27 beginning at 7:30 p.m. will be a fund raiser for the Fox and the McCook choir's trip to New York City in May of 2009.
Free will donations will be accepted as the price of admission for the "Big Apple Revue," which is the name chosen for the show.
"The choir and alumni will be featuring a wide range of popular and patriotic music," said Sandy Weigel, the McCook High School vocal music director. "We are fortunate to have an outstanding group of alumni singers join us."
Carson Kain, a 2008 MHS graduate, and Ashley Carman, a 2003 MHS graduate, will share emcee duties. Other talented alumni vocalists scheduled to take part are Kerri Davis Unger, a 1988 graduate; Amy Kunkee Smith, 1993; and Cinda Coleman Schmit and Sara Putz Frank, who are both 2002 graduates.
The MHS Varsity Choir will be represented by the full choir, doing three numbers; the boys quartet, known as "Those Guys," and four soloists.
The boys quartet is composed of Brenden Funk, Ryan Hardin, Grant Wilcox and Stephen Smock.
Funk, a junior, and Smock, a senior, will also be singing solos, as will Atheana Parde, a senior, and Kim Holthus, a sophomore.
"McCook High School has an excellent vocal music tradition," Mrs. Weigel said. "The student singers and alumni are excited to appear on stage at the Fox during this year's Heritage Days celebration. We are looking forward to an entertaining and upbeat show."
